A beautiful, Vintage 1980s, Hand Dyed Batik -Meaures 2 yards 22" X 41" Wide

Traditional, genuine Batik from Indonesia, fully hand made. Tuli is the Indonesian word used to describe a batik that is totally handmade by "kanting" (pouring) the wax onto the material. It is not made by stamp or by mechanically printing onto the material. This is the traditional and most labour intensive way of making a batik.

Yogyakarta is one of the oldest batik centres in Java. This batik is a classic example of the gorgeous work done in Yogyakarta - it has a black background with a motif of pheasants, flowers and butterflies in brown, and beige. Very well executed, this is a genuine batik using natural dyes - indigo and sogan - on high quality cotton. It is in very good condition.
